Milla Toukkari is a 40-year-old visual artist who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2015. Toukkari has exhibited works widely around Finland and participated in international residencies in, among other places, Lithuania, Russia, and the United States. Toukkari’s work typically takes the form of installations, books, collages, and printed images. In terms of content, the focus is on the relationship between text and image, as well as art as a way of structuring reality. In recent years, the emphasis in her artistic production has begun to shift toward more immaterial art forms. The artist runs long-distance races and works as a registrar at an art museum.
