Iida Valkonen has worked in drawing for several years, which is reflected both in her way of working and in the material choices of her works. The majority of her output focuses on exploring the themes of landscape, movement, repetition, and the rhythm that emerges from it, through the means of drawing. In addition to drawing, Valkonen also makes use of moving image, photography, and spatial elements in her practice.

Valkonen graduated as a visual artist from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Printmaking, in 2016. She has also completed a Master of Arts degree at Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture, in the Department of Art Education. Valkonen is a member of the Finnish Printmakers Association, MUU ry, the Helsinki Artists’ Association, and Kuopion kuvataiteilijat ry Ars Libera.
