Singer Ellen Almgren and pianist Olov “Klyv-Olle” Lindroth present a heartfelt duo performance in which ballads, original compositions and improvisation are set against a folk music backdrop. Ellen Almgren writes songs that give space to both everyday observations and existential reflections, drawing inspiration from the honest tone of folk songs and the imaginative richness of jazz. Olov “Klyv-Olle” Lindroth, a native of Vindel, is one of Sweden’s few dedicated folk pianists and has made a name for himself through his responsive, lively and distinctive playing. With great sensitivity and improvisational freedom, he paints expressive musical landscapes on the pedal organ and the piano. Ellen and Olov met whilst studying at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and, over the years, have developed a rapport that feels almost telepathic.

Milla Toukkari works with and through printed matter, text, installations and collage. In her practice, she investigates the nature of printed images as essentially conceptual. She has exhibited both solo and in group shows since 2011 in f.ex. Helsinki, Lahti, Turku, Vaasa and Tampere. Her works are included in the art collection of the state of FInland, HUS and Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. 

Naturally, one’s performance art is ordered in a chronological manner, yet the viewer may not be aware of those which took place before it.

The works Maurice does often do not carry a title. (And that’s no “untitled” which he considers a title too) He tends to think that a name can draw away the attention from what the piece is (or maybe could be) – just itself. Although his works are performative, he does seem to consider himself a sculptor, or rather, remaining with a sculptural attitude.

Malgomaj are a Umeå-based hard rock trio with roots in Purmo, Lycksele and Vilhelmina. Beneath the band’s asbestos-clad façade of distortion and heavy riffs, one finds big-flowered blues in shades of brown and orange, psychedelic folk melodies and a groove that stirs up the deepest layer of dust in the soul’s crawl space. 

With lyrics in Swedish, Malgomaj puts into words the reality of Eastern and Western Bothnia, featuring pike gods and whale wonders, space journeys along road 365 and hopeless rebellions against the empire’s steel-eating anthropophages. Running through it all is a trail of cheerful melancholy. Malgomaj are currently promoting their debut album “Valfiskens buk” on Ostron Records.

I paint in acrylics. The underlying theme in my art is empathy and, more broadly, an understanding of others. My paintings are often perceived as both humorous and melancholic. I enjoy black humour. My approach to my work, however, is very direct and, in the actual act of painting, focuses on colour and form.

Iida Valkonen has worked in drawing for several years, which is reflected both in her way of working and in the material choices of her works. The majority of her output focuses on exploring the themes of landscape, movement, repetition, and the rhythm that emerges from it, through the means of drawing. In addition to drawing, Valkonen also makes use of moving image, photography, and spatial elements in her practice.

Valkonen graduated as a visual artist from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Printmaking, in 2016. She has also completed a Master of Arts degree at Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture, in the Department of Art Education. Valkonen is a member of the Finnish Printmakers Association, MUU ry, the Helsinki Artists’ Association, and Kuopion kuvataiteilijat ry Ars Libera.

Gustaf Broms works in the borderlands between performance, video and installation. He was born in Sweden in 1966, currently lives and works in the Vendel forest. gustaf’s practice is engaged with the exploration of the nature of consciousness, the dualistic concept of Being NATURE (the biological process of body), and being MIND (as intellect interprets experience). In his practice, he started off working photography and installation, but two work in particular led him to work with the more formless processes of performance.

In 1991, Broms burned all of his work, and in doing so realized that the intensity of the action and the remaining ash far outdid anything he had previously made.

In 2005, he completed a series of works entitled “5 Faiths for a Brave New World” in which he worked with objects that were physically too heavy for the body to move. These two experiences created a longing to explore the formless and led up to the project entitled “A Walking Piece” made with Trishula Littler, in which the two artists spent 18 months walking across Eastern Europe.

The result is considered a drawing. Currently, Broms’ continues to work with his own body as the tool for examining what this living thing is.

Antti Tolvi (b.1977 in Panelia Finland) is sound artist, composer and performer living and working in Turku / Kemiö Island Finland. He has been one of the most important names in the field of experimental music scene in Finland since 2002. Antti has performed over 400 times on three continents and 16 solo records have been released from Antti. Since 2016, Antti has held over 20 solo exhibitions and participated many group exhibitions. Setting up happenings and festivals is also part of Antti´s artistic practice. Yearly Kiilan Äänipäivät sound art festival since 2014, smaller events since 2001 and kelluu performance art events in Turku (with Anna Tahkola) 2026.

When performing, Tolvi’s presence effortlessly moves on the border between performing and “just” being present. It increases the experiencer’s ways of being. His work is often about the potentials and specific qualities, e.g a person or a object have, regardless of whether they are doing something at that moment or not. One could also talk about specific vibrational frequencies, often concretely, when something is playing or is ready to play.

Antti´s practice has been focused around just listening almost two decades now. By listening, Antti means listening, which is not only listening with our ears, but listening with the whole being. Just listening what happens in inside and outside of us. Practicing listening also inseparably includes practicing relaxation. We cannot hear very subtly anything if our mind is fixed somewhere. In other words, in this practice, we pay attention to human nature, while being sensitive to the particularities of space and form.

One day Antti realized that for people who are not trained listening for years or for whom the sounds doesn’t have huge effect, it can be difficult to reach the depth and space that he tries to offer in his works. In recent years, Antti´s works has started to take shape more as multi-sensory installations, spatial experiences and performances, in all of which sounds still play a central role. In Antti´s works sounds have expanded into more performance style of presentations, sounds has taken visual forms, Antti has started to composed for winds and lights, installations includes body sensations (sonic bed/sofas, sound hand/foot baths), compositions for touching (one-to-one performances) etc.

Amado Peña (@pancakesinpijamas) is a poet, translator, and transmedia artist. Trained in Hispanic Language and Literature, with specializations in Cultural Management and Mexican Literature in Indigenous Languages, he works across writing, performance, and material experimentation. His poetic practice approaches language as an archaeological, semantic, and sensorial field; one that is embodied, sculpted, and staged in order to decompose.
